Privacy Policy for Disco for Dirigera

This privacy policy describes how the "Disco for Dirigera" Android application ("the App", "we") handles information. The App is developed and maintained by Hampus Wikner as an individual developer.

Short version

• The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
• The App does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
• The App communicates only with an IKEA DIRIGERA smart home hub on your local Wi-Fi network.
• No data leaves your home network.

What information the App handles

The App stores the following on your device only:

• The local IP address of your DIRIGERA hub (entered by you or discovered on your local network).
• The access token issued by your DIRIGERA hub, used to authenticate requests to the hub.
• Your saved color presets, speed, brightness, and other preferences.

This information is stored locally on your device using Android's standard app storage (AsyncStorage). It is never transmitted to the developer or to any third party.

Network access

The App requests the INTERNET permission solely to communicate with your DIRIGERA hub over your local Wi-Fi network (typically at an address such as https://192.168.x.x:8443). The App does not contact any server operated by the developer and does not contact any third-party service.

Because the DIRIGERA hub presents a self-signed TLS certificate, the App is configured to trust that certificate on your local network only. This relaxed certificate validation applies exclusively to requests addressed to the hub's local IP; it does not expose you to risk on the public internet because no public-internet requests are made.

Foreground service and notifications

The App runs a foreground service while "party mode" is active. This is required by Android so that the color-cycling loop continues to drive your lights while the phone's screen is off or the App is in the background. The service shows a persistent notification titled "Party mode active". Stopping party mode in the App stops the service and dismisses the notification.

Permissions

• INTERNET — to talk to your DIRIGERA hub on your local network.
• FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE — to keep the color-cycling loop running while the phone is locked.
• WAKE_LOCK — to prevent the CPU from sleeping during party mode so lights keep cycling reliably.
• VIBRATE — haptic feedback on button presses.

The App does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or any other personal data source.

Children's privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, an updated version will be published at the URL where you found this document. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
